Energy Saving
Saving energy is one valuable way we can help protect our environment, and with a few simple changes, it is easy to do. Check out our tips to save energy and money in your home today, or have a look at our energy saving range of products.
Over 40% of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions, the main greenhouse gas which causes climate change, actually come from the things we do every day. Things like leaving lights on unnecessarily or overfilling the kettle all waste energy and result in needless carbon dioxide emissions.
We can try and reduce the amount of energy we use everyday, and use energy more efficiently, through a number of measures. Some examples are:
- switching old light bulbs to energy saving light bulbs - switching lights off when leaving the room - insulating the home properly - Under a Government scheme, energy suppliers are obliged to encourage people to use energy more efficiently by helping with the supply and costs of installation of energy saving measures and providing advice on energy efficiency. You can call the Energy Saving trust on 0800 512 012 for more information. - Turn down your thermostat by one degree centigrade - Drive more efficiently - Only boil as much water as you need - Keep lids on pans when cooking to conserve heat and energy - Wash clothes at 30 degrees centigrade - Turn appliances off rather than leave on standby - Buy energy saving recommended products - Use an energy monitor in your home to help identify the appliances which use the most energy. - Consider installing renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines for your home.
By reducing our energy consumption we can help to stop climate change and save money on our bills.
